Projekt archivu živých romských písní Giľora („giľora“ znamená romsky „písničky“) vznikl během covidového jara 2020 a jeho cílem je zaznamenávat živé romské písně v ČR. Projekt inicioval Ondřej Skovajsa, Ph.D., a jeho supervize se ujal doc. PhDr. Lubomír Tyllner, CSc, a zaštítil jej Etnologický ústav AV ČR. Projekt umožnila laskavá finanční podpora Bader Philanthropies, Inc.
Současně vznikl i spolek Giľora, z.s.(www.spolekgilora.cz), jehož cílem je především podporovat vynikající romské zpěváky a muzikanty, kteří přispěli svými písněmi do tohoto archivu, pořádat koncerty, aj. V letech 2022-2024 spolek Giľora aktivně spolupracoval s EÚ AV ČR na řešení projektu nahrávkami a překlady.
Po skončení projektu EÚ AV ČR v červnu 2024 (stav prvního projektu zachycuje a konzervuje původní verze archivu www.gilora.cz), se spolek Giľora rozhodl pokračovat v rozdělané a smysluplné práci. Od ledna 2025 tak činíme opět s obnovenou podporou Bader Philanthropies, Inc.

The Giľora project records, archives and makes available the singing of Romani singers who like to sing, ideally with people with whom they sing more often. We record and study songs in the culture of the Czech Roma, we examine the current form of Roma song folklore in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and elsewhere in Europe. The project is specific in its focus on the personalities of the singers and their repertoire - rather than on the bands - as well as the preference for "unplugged" recordings. The goal is not perfect recordings in studio quality, but documentation of the role of songs and singing in the culture of the Czech Roma today. From this documentation and semi-structured interviews, the ethnomusicological research of contemporary Roma singing in Czechia, Slovakia and elsewhere in Europe is based. We also run courses of Romani based on the collected songs.
Note on translations. Where possible, we will provide transcriptions and translations into Czech. For some songs, it was not possible to make a transcription, and thus neither a translation – because the singers had already learned the song in an agrammatic, semantically opaque version. We also translate excellent Czech, Moravian and Slovak texts into Romani, and translations into English are being created. Translations and transcriptions, which are gradually published on this website, are being edited, we would appreciate your comments and notice of possible errata.
